Subliminal Advertising

A couple weeks back, I wrote about iMessage, noting that one could conceivably ditch their SMS plan with their carrier, especially if said person’s social circle were iOS-centric. Well, fast forward to late last week, when Apple posts a new ad for the iPod touch. No one’s ever said Apple’s marketing team was dumb: I’m positive it’s no coincidence that they decided to use teenagers and iMessage as the focal points of this spot. Reading between the lines, it’s clear Apple thinks iMessage has the potential to kick some major SMS ass too.1  And for good reason -- actually, make that 250 million good reasons. Anyway, here’s the ad: [youtube]

  1. Either an ass-kicking or a dagger to the heart. Your choice.  ↩
