Erica Ogg, writing for GigaOm, posits Tim Cook should give Ron Johnson his old job back:
Ron Johnson is out as CEO of J.C. Penney. After less than two years on the job, it’s not quite clear what the next step would be for him. Luckily for him, it just so happens that Johnson’s former employer, Apple, has an opening for someone with his qualifications: SVP of Retail.
Yes, that’s Johnson’s old job, the one that he held for more than 10 years. And he was really, really good at it.
I wondered about a Johnson-going-back-to-Apple scenario upon hearing the news, and think it's a good idea. I asked Matt Panzarino about it on Twitter yesterday, but he didn't seem to think there was much of a chance of it happening. (His words: "There's /a/ chance.") Even so, I'm with Ogg that bringing Johnson back would be a good thing; I'm sure Tim Cook has at least thought about it.
