'Presidential Endorsements Through the Ages'

From yesterday, the Opinion Pages of the New York Times published this regarding the slideshow:

A collection of The Times’s endorsements for the presidency, from Abraham Lincoln in 1860 through the editorial board’s choice of President Obama this year.

This is really cool. The NYT has historically been a Democratic-favoring paper, though there are some Republicans on this list. Remember, though, that being Republican in, say, 1860 (cf. Lincoln) was a far different affair than being Republican in 2012. (Freeing slaves seems like a pretty liberal idea.)
