Music Appreciation

Generally, I think most commercials suck -- especially those that hawk products that may cause you to have an erection for more than 4 hours -- but Apple's ads are the exception. Why don't they suck? Well, aside from the cool-ass product that's being shown off, it's the music that plays in the background that's really cool. More often than not, I've found myself liking a song so much that I'll download on iTunes and sync it to my iPod shuffle. The songs are mostly from indie outfits who, I'm sure,  are thrilled with the exposure. And the handsome royalties Apple has to fork over to use 'em. Here are a couple ads that feature songs I've downloaded. The first is from 2008 for the MacBook Air. The song that's playing is called "New Soul" by Yael Naim. The second ad, also from 2008, is for the fourth-gen iPod nano. The song there is called "Bruises" from a band named Chairlift. [youtube=] [youtube=]
