Matt Gemmell, in concluding a terrific piece on designing blogs to maximize readability:
If you write online, make sure that your blog serves your readers’ needs as well as yours, and lends appropriate weight to your well-chosen words.
Matt offers a lot of great advice. I've made a few small tweaks to this site based on his tips.
My main goal with Steven's Blog has always been to put the content first. The site's gone through a lot of changes over its lifetime, but I strive to ensure that readers are able to focus on what I write. I don't want people to be distracted by a lot of menus or links or share buttons, and I think I've done a good job with my design. It's not perfect by any means, but I'm proud of its minimalist nature. It's functional, so I'm glad my design serves its purpose.
