Strong headline and lede to this Medium piece by Ish Shabazz, on developers making accessible apps:
“If it’s not inclusive, don’t ship it.” That’s my new personal mandate. Hold me to it. If you see me do otherwise, call me out.
Later in the post:
As developers, we have the power to create apps that entertain, connect and reduce friction in the world for our customers. As Marvel keeps repeating, ‘With great power, comes great responsibility’. The difference between a hero and villain is how they use their power… what choices they make or choose not to make. If we aren’t the one’s making the world more accessible, who will?
Shabazz has a good roundup of accessibility-related links from WWDC. In particular, the lunchtime presentation by Haben Girma is great. I was in the audience for it, and it was definitely one of the highlights of the week for me. If you haven't already seen it—or even if you have—it's worth your time.
